If someone at your organization asked you to show the value of your communications efforts today, how would you provide them with a quick, yet comprehensive, answer? How much time would it take to gather all of that data?

Public sector communicators are marred by universal challenges that have become the norm. Reduce spending! Be more efficient! Be innovative! Yet, providing continual concrete performance metrics that show success in these areas still continues to be a challenge. This becomes especially true as organizations are pressed to justify their efforts. For government leaders looking to launch, extend, or enhance a communications program, performance metrics are key in the decision making process. That’s why we at GovDelivery designed a report that lets your organization fully leverage and share the data that’s being collected around your digital communications.

With the new Account Performance Report, account level administrators get 360-degree insight into the performance of your organization’s communications efforts over a 12-month period of time. These analytics provide an understanding of how many people you are engaging, the impact of the different channels you use to communicate, the types and amounts of information you disseminate, and more. With the click of a button, you can also email a neatly formatted version of the report to anyone in your organization interested in your performance metrics.

The first section of the report provides an overview of key metrics highlighting compelling high-level data on your account performance, growth, and engagement. From here, the report is segmented to give your organization insight into your levels of communications effectiveness, efficiency and engagement.

At the top of the effectiveness section, administrators can see how your organization is increasing reach over time and which sources are bringing in the most subscribers. Organizations can also see the impact of participating in the GovDelivery Network, including what percentage of your subscribers are coming in from your top GovDelivery Network partners.

Measuring engagement allows your organization to see how often your subscribers take actions that add value to their lives and contributes to your agency’s mission.  Information coming from the public sector is often more timely and frequent. The new Engagement Rate metric looks holistically at all of the people you are reaching and assesses what percentage of that audience is interacting with your content over a period of time, based on message opens and clicks. For government agencies looking at performance metrics, Engagement Rate is the most important, as it provides the best measure of messaging success for the public sector.

The efficiency section highlights how effective your organization has been in delivering digital communications across multiple delivery channels, including Email, SMS, Facebook and Twitter. This section is especially important for administrators capitalizing on the C.O.P.E strategy (Create Once, Publish Everywhere).

The best part? You can share these graphs and statistics via email with anyone else in your organization interested in digital communications. Simply click on the share button and input one or more email addresses. You can also add a personalized note in the sharing process to elaborate, explain, or just greet recipients. Clicking send will deliver a neatly formatted version of the report directly to your chosen recipients’ email inboxes.

As the public sector is becoming increasingly transparent and more information is being sent proactively, it’s becoming clear that the volume of performance metrics that the public sector tracks can be used to transform how communications are planned. GovDelivery is committed to helping your organization grow your digital communications program, and the Account Performance Report is a powerful tool to gain insight into your performance metrics, all in one place.
